Jerry Jackson | 6/10/2011

Fernando C. Pereira emigrated to the U.S. in 1993 from Brazil to work for a travel company. A year later, he launched his own tour bus business operating as Pegasus Transportation. He built the Orlando venture from a single van and driver to a $10-million-a-year operation with 20 buses, 59 employees and offices in Miami as well as Orlando. Along the way, he learned English and Spanish in addition to his native Portuguese. For his achievements, Pereira was named 2011 Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration's North Florida District, which includes the Orlando area.
